The song is trying to convene a deeper message about being human and how mistakes don't make you who you are. Therefore to make the music video have a deeper tone the use of soft/grey lights are used to try and portrait a neutral emotion or open-minded feeling.

I chose to analyse this song because of the similarities in camera angles and ideas that I want to use in my own music video. The first angle I found interesting in the "Rag'n'bone - Human" music video was the close-up of the singer. Close-ups of the face show the emotions portrayed by the actor and can change how the scene is perceived.

In the next shot a Mid-shot (waist up) is used to show both the actor and the location. This is important (in my music video) to show the actor who is portraying emotions and the location which acts as a flavour or help put emphasis on the actor's actions/feelings.

Depending on the props used in a room or lack of props used in a room you can convey different meanings towards a character's actions in a video. In my music video I might have a mixture of both empty and messy rooms to convey the different emotions of depression and confusion my main character (mc) experiences throughout the music video.

The side close-up shot was an interesting angle that I took a screenshot of. I don't want to necessarily use this kind of camera angle but I do want to use side profiles when using mid-shots for walking/running scenes.

I was exposed to the "Vertigo Effect", a camera technique that I really enjoy looking at. I was thinking that the effect is supposed to be used to portray distances and emotions and in the "Human" music video, the effect is used to show a diversity of different people.

The Mid-Shot (from behind) is a shot I would like to recreate in my own music video to portray my mc walking into a dark, empty room where a single spotlight above a bed is visible. The lighting used in the "Human" music video is similar to what I wish to copy. It helps create a dark atmosphere for both the argumentative "Human" music video and my dark nightmarish music video.

There are a lot of examples where there is camera shake which is used to portray intense emotions and movements. Camera shake is also commonly used in chase/running scenes which is something I'm going to shoot for my own music video.

In "Human" there are a lot of photographed scenes where multiple actors are shown standing still while the camera moves around them in quick circular movements. I don't believe that I will be using this type of shots because you need a lot of space to either setup or move around with the required cameras. Another reason I probably won't use such an interesting camera technique is for the simple reason of using small rooms for my music video. (Unlike the open forest I used for my previous short movie).

I then tried to find some inspiration for a nightmarish costume idea and nightmarish ideas for my music video and I came across Slipknot for inspiration. In the music video "The Devil and I" I found a red veil that the characters were wearing and I thought that a black veil would be a good fit for my music video. The rest of "The Devil and I" music video was too gory for what I have in mind and I decided that I wouldn't be taking further inspiration from the video.

I want to portray a nightmarish dream and scared emotions but not the kind that the Slipknots used in their video with the usage of fake blood (I hope) and "metal music" costumes. My approach to portraying nightmarish video will be made using subtle light changes, emotion usage and editing, instead of using exaggerated scary props.

The video underneath is a video with examples of Vertigo Effects. I used this to better understand when the effect is used and what message it conveys in particular moments.
