In order to get to know the artist better I did an extensive research about his online presence, his audience and interaction with his online community.
-Online Presence-

Regarding his online presence he has accounts on all major music distribution platforms, which, can be found with this link: https://fanlink.to/8leggeddreams
Part of his promotion strategy, you can find similar customised links, like the one above, in the description of each of his music videos. This allows for fans to quickly access his songs on their favourite music distribution platform.
Below you can see the screenshots of his social media accounts: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. His most popular social platform is YouTube where he has garnered over 303K subscribers. YouTube is a place to be discovered and with the help of the algorithm his music was discovered.
On YouTube you can also listen to his music which is something you can't do on other social platforms like Facebook/Twitter/Instagram.

-Audience-

Talking about music distributors, Spotify gives out yearly summarise to both the listeners and artists that use their platform. This leads to the statistics that UnlikePluto shared on his social media accounts, this shows us how well he performed on this one platform (Spotify).
Another set of statistics that is seen on UnlikePluto's spotify account is that of the listeners. This set of statistics shows monthly data and also where the listener's are from.

The audience has a lot of diversity which lead to the question "Do I add anything cultural to the music video". The answer is no. Because there is so much diversity it makes sense to just keep the music video plain and simple without the addition of 1-2 cultural references. The idea is to keep the music video general so that there are no countries that miss out on being recognised.
On the other hand I will be using symbols or cultures that the artist has implemented in any previous videos and visuals allowing there to be some sort of "legitimacy" to the video. (Even if it is fan made)
Continuing about the selected song, "8 Legged Dreams", I found out that it is part of an album: "Messy Mind". All of his albums are on YouTube and have a similar style with the album cover on the left of the screen and the list of songs on the right. I will analyse the style and the cover image and the song itself in a future post!
